Tallis, World Hemispheres. Eastern Hemisphere, Western Hemisphere maps (c1851)

by John Tallis & Company

Reproduction maps. The most decorative pair ever created.

In the mid-19th century John Tallis and Company were famous for their accurate and finely embellished maps. The embellishment is particularly imaginative, showing the regions with people, animals, birds and foliage depicted through windows created within winding branches and twining vines of foliage.

These beautiful Heritage Editions reproduction maps are wonderful vintage prints from hand-coloured steel-engraved maps by John Tallis. Among the last decorative map publishers, Tallis and Company surpassed themselves with the presentation of this pair of maps. Finely-detailed, interesting and colourful, these Tallis maps of the Eastern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere, would look really great together in one frame.

The size of each map is 28 x 36cm (11 x 14 inches).

(The publishing firm of Tallis flourished from 1835 to 1860 and were renowned for their fine maps and prints. Fine original Tallis antique maps and prints are listed under Antique Maps and Antique Prints: or type Tallis in Search box at top, below AntiquePrintClub logo.)
