Reproduction printed from one of the finest Banksia illustrations ever published - reproduced from a hand-coloured copperplate engraving by J. Pass for Governor Arthur Phillip's Voyage to Botany Bay, First Fleet engravings published in London circa 1807 by John Wilkes.
First published in 1789 by John Stockdale, The Voyage of Governor Phillip to Botany Bay; with an Account of the Establishment of the Colonies of Port Jackson & Norfolk Island included many plants, birds and animals that had not been previously recorded. This lovely illustration has more character than other banksia illustrations. With serrated-edged leaves, it shows both the flower and the seed pods that form after the flower is finished.
