Antique Print of a Canoe of the Orotchies from the Baie de Castries (Castries Bay) on the east coast of Tartary.

Original copperplate engraving by Heath from the drawing by Blondela for "the Voyage of Monsieur La Perouse Around the World" published in London "as the Act directs" by G.G. and J. Robinson circa 1798. This crisply engraved graphic, has been nicely hand-coloured at a later date.

Jean-Francois De Galaup Comte de La Perouse (1741-1788), in Boussole and Astrolabe explored many regions that had not previously been visited by westerners prior to 1788.
