Weymouth, Dorset antique print engraved by Edward Finden c1842.

by Finden, Edward

Antique print of Weymouth for Finden's Ports and Harbours of Great Britain.

Original fine steel engraving, c1837. Drawn by H. Warren. Engraved by E. Finden. London, Published 1837, by Charles Tilt, 86, Fleet Street for Finden's "The Ports, Harbours, Watering-Places, Fishing Villages, and other Picturesque Objects on the English Coast", by William Finden (1787-1852), Edward Finden (1791-1857), and William Andrew Chatto (1799-1864).

This engraving has later hand-colour that certainly enhances the scene of a small boat laden with fishing nets and men, horse and men waiting on land, the shanties near the shore, the sailing ship, and the buildings in the background.

The page is in fair condition. There is a conservation-repaired tiny tear to the extremity at the base, and light soiling towards edges, which is to be expected with paper of this age. The price has been adjusted accordingly.

Approximate measurements of image, 117 x 175mm (4.5/8 x 6.7/8 inches), and page, 207 x 275mm (8.1/8 x 10.7/8 inches).
