Thomas Allom was an English architect whose passion was illustrating scenes and people. His wonderful series of views of China introduced to the western world many unfamiliar landscapes, elaborate social and religious customs, unfamiliar occupations and pastimes, and fascinating inventions in China after the 1842 conclusion of the first Opium Wars between Britain and China.
This is a small engraving, mounted between antique white conservation ragmat boards and covered for presentation and protection until framed. The window size is 153 x 190mm (6 x 7.5 inches). External size for frame window is 303 x 345 (12 x 13 .5 inches).
