Antique print of Lavender Bay wharves in Sydney.

Antique engraving on wood after a sketch for "Picturesque Atlas of Australasia" published in Sydney between 1886 and 1888 to commemorate 100 years of European settlement in Australia, by showing the development over the intervening period.

These interesting engravings have always been collectable, with many hand-coloured since publication. Full page size was usually 45 x 34cm (17.5 x 13.5 inches). Some of the larger engravings were inserted without printing on reverse, but most of the engravings were printed within a page of text - as with this one. This original engraving is mounted between 'antique-white' conservation ragmat-board, and covered in cellophane for presentation and protection until framed. Size of engraving is 13 x 18cm (5 x 7 inches). Actual mounted size is 25 x 30cm (10 x 12 inches).
