One of a pair of successive engraved pages on the Turon Gold Diggings, with wood engraved illustrations and descriptive text (complete) on the Australian gold rush events at that time. The second page (listed next) has wood engraved images of Sofala, Turon River - General View, Junction of the Oakey Creek with the Turon River, and Part of the Township of Sofala, Turon River.

With later hand-colouring (which adds to the decorative appeal of these illustrated pages), these were published January 22, 1853 for "The Illustrated London News", which circulated important graphic news from around the world.
