The first of two pages (other page above) with wood engraved images of Commissioner Issuing Licenses to Dig for Gold, Turon River; Gold-Buyer's Hut, Turon River; The Victoria Nugget of Gold (weight 328 oz.), presented to Her Majesty; Assistant-Commissioner Receiving Gold for Escort; and Corporal George Suttor.
With later hand-colouring (which adds to the decorative appeal of these illustrated pages), these were published January 22, 1853 for "The Illustrated London News", which circulated important graphic news from around the world.
