Beautiful framed antique lithograph of 3 Sevres Porcelain Lidded Vases in beautiful dark blue and gold - 2 decorated a culot with pastoral scenes, the central grand vase has gilded festoons.

Original lithograph by Gillot, of fine examples of Sevres porcelain for "Le Porcelaine Tendre de Sevres" (The Soft Porcelain of Sevres) by Edouard Garnier, published in Paris circa 1891 by Maison Quantin. The richness of the finest of Sevres porcelain, with its exquisite luminosity, colour and gilding is well portrayed in this high quality lithograph. The examples selected for this series are fro, major collections throughout Europe.

The Sevres factory was established in 1738 at the Chateau de Vincennes with local craftsmen from the nearby factory at Chantilly, to supply the wealthy and privileged of France under the patronage, and later the ownership, of Louis XV. Sevres porcelain was so loved by King Louis XV that when the company ran into financial difficulties he bought out the shareholders and became sole proprietor from his palace at Versailles. Sevres became known as the "Porcelain of French Royalty".

This fine engraving has been framed with conservation materials and subtly elegant decorated mount. Unfortunately the framed lithograph is too large for the scanner. Please ask for further images if required. Framed window size is 24 x 33 cm (9.5 x 13 inches). External frame size is 43 x 52 cm (17 x 20.5 inches). (Mounted image size within frame is 15.5 x 19 inches.)
