Original chromolithograph of a Mango by A.A. Newton. with cut half to show the flesh-surrounded seed, for the Yearbook of the United States Department of Agriculture, published in New York c1908 by the American Lithographic Company. Amanda Almira Newton (1860-1943) was one of the regular contributors of beautiful lithographs for the United States Department of Agriculture publications on fruit.

Between 1897 and 1925 Yearbooks of the U.S. Dept of Agriculture were published to encourage production of the wide range of fruit being grown in the United States. Artists were employed for watercolours and lithographs. As they were published essentially to promote the growing of fruit in the United States, there was not an enormous circulation, so these beautiful illustrations are rarely seen today.
