Half-framed Champion Peach antique lithograph. Amanda Newton 1908

Half-framed Champion Peach antique lithograph. Amanda Newton 1908

by Newton, Amanda Almira

Whole and Half Peach antique print, matted/cellophaned, half-framed.

This is a lovely colour-printed peach lithograph by Amanda Almira Newton who was an artist with the United States Department of Agriculture Division of Pomology. Scientifically accurate and wonderfully graphic this antique print was published in New York in 1908.

Before the widespread use of photography, between 1897 and 1925, artists were employed to create watercolours and lithographs of fruit and vegetables that were growing in the U.S.  Yearbooks were published with these charming illustrations to their cultivation. As there was not a large number published they are rarely seen today.

This antique print is in fine condition. Size, 23 x 14cm (9 x 5.5 inches). It is mounted with antique white conservation board and covered with cellophane for presentation and protection until framed.  65mm surrounding matt makes it too large for small scanner.) External mount size for frame window is 340 x 255mm (13 3/8 x 10 inches).
