Half-framed Lizzie Peach. Small antique peach lithograph. Schutt c1913.

by Schutt-Blackburn, Ellen Isham

Whole and Half Peach antique print. Schutt lithograph.

Original colour-printed lithograph by Ellen Isham Schutt-Blackburn (1873-1955), published in New York in 1913 for The United States Department of Agriculture Yearbook. E.I. Schutt was an artist for the Division of Pomology from 1904 to 1914.

Before the widespread use of photography, between 1897 and 1925, artists were employed to create watercolours of agricultural crops growing in the U.S. Yearbooks were published to promote the growing of fruit and vegetables in the United States, there was not an enormous circulation, so these beautiful illustrations are rarely seen today.
