Spectacular small Parrot engraving for Comte de Lacepede.

Fine original hand-coloured copperplate engraving published in Paris c1836 by the Pourrat Brothers for Zoology Professor at the Paris Natural History Museum, Bernard Germain Etienne de la Ville sur Illon, Comte de Lacepede (1756-1825) who worked with Georg-Leclerc, Comte de Buffon (1707-1788), finished his monumental work of 8 small uncoloured illustrated work on natural history, Histoire Naturelle Général et Particuliére avec la description cu cabinet du roi (Natural History, General and Particular, with the description from the King's library). Over the following years, Lacepedeupdated and reissued Buffon's work in a larger format, with beautifully hand-coloured engravings.

In fine condition with slight extremity soiling as is to be expected when and antique print is this age. Page size is 145 x 245mm (5 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches).
