50%-off Queen Elizabeth, founder of our colonial empire c1850.

by Fry, William Thomas

J & F. Tallis antique print of Queen Elizabeth, the Founder of Our Colonial Empire. Ob. 1603.
Engraved by W.T. Fry from the original of Zucchero in the collection of The Most Noble The Marquis of Salisbury.

The last Tudor monarch, Elizabeth (1533-1603), ruled from 1558 until 1603. Exquisitely engraved by William Thomas Fry from the painting by Italian artist Federico Zucchero (c1541-1609), this portrait was published c1850 by J. & F. Tallis, London & New York. It is surrounded by finely engraved border representing jewels and drapes with braids and tassles below, all surmounted by coat of arms.

This page has fine later hand-colour. It is unfortunately missing the lower left corner, has a light diagonal fold at lower left, and has slight age soiling. Hence the very low price for a wonderful engraving. Size: 27.3 x 8 cm (10 3/4 x 7 1/8 inches)
