Original lithograph after English artist Charles Burton Barber (1845-1894). Lithographed and published in London c1881 by Cassell, Petter, Galpin and Co. for “Cassell’s Illustrated Book of the Dog” by Vero Kemball Shaw.

At the end of the nineteenth century, the quality of chromolithographic illustrations for publication was exceptional. There is some slight foxing to the plate, but it does not detract from this fine image. Page cropped rather close to the name of the dog's owner below the title at base. Hence the price reduction.

Plate size is 205 x 273 mm (8 x 10.75 inches).
