Snowdon Hills as this region was once known, Carnarvonshire is a maritime county, and this wonderful little map is printed above  interesting historical information of the County and its major antiquities (which continue over the page).

For his "Supplement to the Antiquities of England and Wales" published in London between 1773 and 1787, Francis Grose retouched the plates that John Seller engraved for his "Anglia Contracta" c1697, after John Speed's earlier smaller county maps for Speed's pocket atlas circa 1676.

From the tall edition of this work,  the page is of heavy grade hand-made paper, and there are wide margins around the engravings. Map size is 125 x 150mm (5 x 6 inches). Page size is 320 x 240mm (12.5 x 9.5 inches).
