Original map drawn by A.J. Scally, and printed in colour, with districts and counties well differentiated, and mountains, mountain ranges and rivers shown. Railways in operation, railways in course of construction, and proposed railways are also delineated. Published in 1888 by The Picturesque Atlas Publishing Company Limited, Sydney & Melbourne, established exclusively for the publication of The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia to commemorate one hundred years since First Fleet settlement at Sydney.

This map cover two pages, with a vertical fold down the centre for a publication half the size of the map. There is a tiny (conservation-repaired) tear at the upper end of the central crease. The full map double-page size is 425 x 650mm (16.75 x 25.5 inches). The Index to this map appears on the reverse.
