Charles Smith (1800-1852) was an engraver, publisher and map seller. This elegant map was published circa 1837 for Smith's A New General Atlas. This popular atlas was first published by C. Smith in 1816. Charles Smith maps were renowned for their fine geographical detail, high quality paper, excellent hand-colour - and for being updated regularly.

This map is in excellent condition. It measures approximately 10.5 x 14 inches (27 x 36cm ) to border, with wide margins to edge of page, as published.
