Original copperplate-engraved map by John Senex for Joannis Nicholsoni, enlarging the map first published in 1624 for Introductio in Universam Geographicam (Introduction to Universal Geography) by Philipp Cluver (1580-1622). This enlarged map c1711, with new information and decorative cartouche, was the finest edition published. Cluver's maps were re-issued a few times until 1755, but all other editions were in the smaller format.

The page measures 24 cm x 34 cm (9 1/2 inches x 13 3/8 inches). To the map border measures approximately 20 cm x 25 cm (8 inches x 9 7/8 inches). Engraved on fine woven hand-made paper, this map has a vertical fold which was to accommodate the small publication. The
