Original lithograph printed in colour by lithographers to the Queen, Vincent, Brooks Day & Son for “Cassell’s Illustrated Book of the Dog” by Vero Kemball Shaw, published in London circa 1881 by Cassell, Petter and Galpin Co.

At the end of the nineteenth century, the quality of chromolithographic illustrations for publication was exceptional. Many of the colour-printed lithographs for "Cassells Book of the Dog" were finished with hand-colour and highlighting. They are some of the finest illustrations ever printed of the dog breeds.
