World Heritage-listed Exhibition Building in Melbourne in 1886.

Heritage Vintage Print reproduced from a hand-coloured wood engraving after New York-born artist Frederick B. Schell (1838-1905), from his 1884-1888 travels around Australia for Picturesque Atlas of Australasia which was published in Sydney between 1886 and 1888 to provide a graphic summary of the one hundred years of Australia’s development since first fleet settlement in Sydney in 1788. 

The first World Heritage listed building in Australia (in Carlton Gardens central Melbourne park), the magnificent Royal Exhibition Building was built in 1880 and is still operating as an exhibition buildng. It is the oldest surviving exhibition building from the Great Exhibition era of the 19th century.
