Lovely colonial view of Adelaide, South Australia capital city.

This is a reproduction printed in colour from a hand-coloured wood engraving after a drawing by New York topographical artist Frederick B. Schell (1838-1905), from his travels around Australia between 1884 and 1888. At the age of 29, Schell was appointed the task of selecting the illustrations for “Picturesque Atlas of Australasia” published in Sydney from 1886 to 1888 to commemorate 100 years of settlement in Australia.that was originally published for “Picturesque Atlas of Australasia” between 1886-1888 to commemorate the centenary of first fleet settlement in Australia in 1788. The size of this view is  16 x 28cm (6.5 x 11 inches).
