Small framed fish print. One of a set of four small colourful fish, named Holocentre of Surinam, Holocentrus Surinamensis. (The others are Lutian of Surinam, Lutianus Surinamensis. Dog's Tooth, Sparus Cynodon. Anchor Tooth, Sparus Anchorago.)

We have framed this print with a conservation quality mount and a ridged flat black frame to echo the waves. It's a very striking effect with this pretty fish print. This small print is a reproduction from an original hand-coloured copperplate engraving by J. F. Hennig for Icthyologie, ou Histoire Naturelle Generale et Particulere des Poissons (Icthyology, or General and Specific Natural History of Fish) which was published in Germany & France between 1785 and 1797 by Marcus Elieser Bloch.

Size of print is 15 x 25cm (6 x 10 inches). External measurement of frame is 31 x 40cm (12 x 15.75 inches).
