Framed reproduction print of a Flower Fairy watercolour by Cicely Mary Barker (1895-1973).

From a family of wood-carvers, Cicely showed an innate sense of creativity and spent many hours as a child, drawing and painting. Suffering from epilepsy until after the end of World War II, she was educated at home and learnt art by correspondence, until 1918 when she was enrolled at Croydon Art Society in England. From the age of 17, after her fathers death, Cicely's art helped to support her family. Her Flower Fairies show her great love for children and her close affinity with nature. They have gained international recognition and are now quite in demand, though rarely available. We have very few of this series.

External measurement of this narrow gilt frame is 34 x 29 cm (approx. 13.5 x 11.5 inches).
