Bridgeman's Stowe landscape View from Gibb's Building. Rigaud

by Rigaud, Jacques

Beautiful hand-coloured reproduction print of Stowe landscaping, Buckinghamshire.

View from Gibb's Building, with the Rotunda and the Queen's Statue in the background, and fashionably-dressed aristocrats in the foreground.

Elegant large print from a fine engraving by Jacques Rigaud (1681-1754) and Bernard Baron, of a Rigaud perspective sketch of landscape at Stowe in Buckinghamshire - as commissioned by the head royal gardener Charles Bridgeman. The series of 16 views of Bridgeman’s landscape design were published posthumously circa 1739 by Bridgeman's wife, Sarah.

Size: 44 x 71 cm (17 x 31 inches). Despite this being the most beautiful of this series of prints, the top corners of this print are not in alignment - though not detracting from image. Hence the reduction in price to the same as the others.
