Beautiful reproduction print from a chromolithograph by W. Griggs.

Created after thousands of experiments, Jasperware was introduced in 1774 by the English potter Josiah Wedgwood. It is a fine-grained unglazed dense stoneware. White in its natural state, it was then stained with metallic oxide and embellished by relief classical motifs.

This superb reproduction print was from a chromolithograph by W. Griggs for Frederick Rathbone's Old Wedgwood, the Decorative or Artistic Ceramic Work Produced by Josiah Wedgwood, published n London c1898 by Quaritch.

Print measurement is 345 x 510mm (13 5/8 x approx. 24 1/4 inches). This image only shows the beautiful detail of the images. Please email if you would like full-size images (of less-than-accurate color..)
