Fitzgerald print of Australian Orchid Lyperanthus Ellipticus. Rare reproduction from the hand-coloured lithograph “from Nature and on Stone by RD Fitzgerald FLS", the eminent botanist Robert David Fitzgerald (who was also O.B.E., F.I.S.A. )(1830-1892) for “Orchids of Australia” published in Sydney, N.S.W. by Government Printer Thomas Richards between between 1875 and 1894. This is one of the few orchid lithographs that were both drawn and lithographed by Fitzgerald himself.

This edition so closely resembles the first edition in quality, that it is hard to discern the difference. This print is in fine condition, with wonderfully detailed dissections of the flowers. Page size is 470mm x 320mm (18.1/2 inches x 12.1/2 inches), full size as published in 1977 for the Limited Edition of 350 by Lansdowne.
