Anyone interested in the history of 18th century England and in London life during that time, would enjoy reading James Boswell's intimate journal of his first nine months in London after moving there when 22 years old. It was his second visit  from his home in Scotland, and includes his meeting, on 16th May, with the famous writer and moralist, Dr Samuel Johnson, LLD. Boswell formed a close relationship with Johnson and was to become more famous for his wonderful biography The Life of Samuel Johnson.
