From 1868 to 1914 each week's Vanity Fair periodical included a caricature with a short biography of someone who had been in the news. The caricatures guaranteed the popularity of Vanity Fair, and most people took pride in being the victim who was satirized. Lithographs of caricatures, mostly by ‘Ape’ (Carlo Pellegrini) or ‘Spy’ (Leslie Ward), were printed by eminent lithographers Vincent Brooks. Information about Vanity Fair magazine, 40 cricketer caricatures with accompanying texts, facts and figures about the game of cricket, and lists and information about cricketers make this a treasure for lovers of the sport of cricket.
