Bradbury and Evans took over printing of the publication in 1842, when the first edition was not financially viable - having been set up with capital of 25 pounds. Full of witty and irreverant sketches commenting on the times, Punch became such a successful and popular social commentary, that it was published continuously until 2002. Well illustrated throughout with black and white engravings, many of full page size, from sketches by eminent cartoonists.
