Antique print of Cherubs at work and play - a charming engraving of baby angels.

Original mezzotint engraved on copper by R. Pozzi after a drawing by Francesco Lavega for the most important eighteenth century archaeological work, documenting excavations at Pompeii, Ercolano (Herculaneum and Stabiae), hundreds of years after it was covered by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD79. Published in Naples circa 1757-1792 with patronage of King Charles 11. Later hand-color.

This small image has been mounted in conservation board, and covered with cellophane for protection. Approximate size, 29 x 34cm (11.5 x 13.5 inches). Engraving window size, 14 x 19cm (5.5 x 7.5 inches)
