Antique print of ceremonial horns of hammered and embossed bronze, belonging to the Corporations of Canterbury and Dover, where they were used for the Mayor to call the town Corporation together.

Original colour-printed lithograph by William Gibb for the first edition of “Musical Instruments - Historic, Rare and Unique” by Alfred James Hipkins (1826-1903), published in Edinburgh, circa 1888 by Adam and Charles Black. William Gibb's lithographs for Alfred Hipkins first edition of his marvellous work are considered to be the finest illustrations of musical instruments ever done.

This lithograph was from a decommissioned library edition. The library stamp is concealed as mounted, between ragmat conservation matt-board, covered with cellophane for protection. Page size: 295 x 405mm (approximately 11.5 x 16 inches). Lithograph size: 210 x 320mm (approx. 8.25 x 11.50 inches).
