Curling antique print. A must for any Curlers..
Original wood engraving published in New York in Harper's Weekly in 1886 after a drawing by Thure de Thulstrup (1858-1930), (named Bror Thure Thulstrup by his father who was secretary of the navy in Sweden). Thure did military service in Sweden and later went to France and joined the Foreign Legion where he saw action. After leaving the French Army he moved to Canada in 1872 to become a civil engineer, but moved to New York the following year and became an artist instead. He was particularly proficient representing battle scenes. He studied art, and as his ability improved so did his employment as an illustrator.
The size of this antique engraving to its border is approximately 9 x 13 1/2 inches (23 x 13 1/2 inches).
This wonderful action scene is currently mounted, and on a backboard ready for framing (so only choice of frame and glass... The external size for frame window is 390 x 502mm (15 3/8 x 19 3/4 inches) [ Please request picture of decorated mount - gold lines highlighting the wonderful scene. ]
