Military antique print. Major-General Sir Robert Henry Sale GCB (1782-1845).
The second son of Colonel Sale of the East India Company was a British Army officer who commanded the garrison of Jalalabad during the First Afghan War and was killed in action during the First Anglo-Sikh War.

Original steel engraving published in London c.1854 with the recognisable style of Tallis publishing house. In 1853 John Tallis joined Ephraim Tipton Brown to form The London Printing and Publishing Company. With the traditional finely engraved grand embellishmet, this engraving was for a series on the great Naval and Military battles fought by the English.

The page size is approximately 27 x 18 cm (10.75 x 7 inches).
