Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth engraving c1806.

Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth engraving c1806.

Antique print of Her Royal Highnefs Princefs Elizabeth, copperplate engraving by Cheesman after the watercolour by Sir William Beechey. Published in London by E. Harding May 19, 1806. Princess Elizabeth (1770-1840) was the seventh child and third daughter of King George III and Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who was the great-great-great grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II.

During his period at Windsor, Harding was commissioned by the Queen to produce an illustrated volume entitled Portraits of the whole Royal Family, with engravings by Bourlier, Cheesman and others, after paintings by Gainsborough, Beechey, Lawrence, Edridge, and others, in the Royal Collection. Harding worked with Princess Elizabeth (1770-1840), who designed and etched plates for engravers to create plates for printing. In 1809 Queen Charlotte had a private printing press and small book binding facility set up at Frogmore House (the royal residence just south of Windsor Castle), and Harding became the librarian responsible for production.

This is a lovely engraving which is very lightly soiled and bent. It is of course priced appropriate to its condition. Size: 28.2 x 22.3 cm (11 1/8 x 8 3/4 inches).
