Finely embellished Tallis engraving. The Battle of Trafalgar.

Fine original steel engraving published in London c1856 by the famous Tallis publishing house, which by this date was called the London Printing & Publishing Company. This is a finely embellished engraving for a series of scenes of great Naval and Military battles fought by the English.

Tallis and Company were renowned for the fine engraved decoration added as a frame to the main scene depicted. In 1853, John Tallis joined with Ephraim Tipton Brian to form the London Printing & Publishing Company.

The colour was added at a later date but it certainly adds to the definition and appreciation of this beautiful engraving.

The page size is approximately 18 x 27 cm (7 x 10.5 inches).
