Antique print of the Crimean War. "The Himalaya" steam-ship landing troops at Scutari; the Barracks, at Scutari-Kushla, occupied by the 33rd and 41st regiments; H.M. Steam-ship "Niagara", with the 88th Connaught Rangers on board, passing through the gut of Gibraltar.

Full page with two hand-coloured wood engravings and the centre small uncoloured engraving, for The Illustrated London News, published on May 6, 1854, with interesting descriptive text between the engraved scenes, and on the following (reverse) page.

The Illustrated London News was the first graphic newspaper. It was a popular publication, with illustrated news of events and discoveries from around the world. The engraved illustrations were avidly collected and coloured for further enjoyment.
