Admiral Lord Howe and the Queen Charlotte. 1st June 1794 on the Glorious First of June, also known as the Third Battle of Ushant. Queen Charlotte was Admiral Lord Howe's flagship at the Battle of Ushant, when the Royal navy fought a French fleet commanded by Rear-Admiral Villaret de Joyeuse.

A fine original steel engraving for England's Battles by Sea and Land, published in London circa 1857 by the London Printing & Publishing Company (previously Tallis & Co.) Tallis engraved portraits, views and maps were renowned for their finely engraved artistic embellishment. British naval scenes have always been very collectable. As with many of these early engravings, hand-colour has been added at a later date to further enhance the image.
