Major General Sir R.H. Sale GCB. Tallis engraving c1856

Major General Sir R.H. Sale GCB. Tallis engraving c1856

by John Tallis & Company

Military Antique Print. Major-General Sir Robert Henry Sale GCB (1782-1845), (second son of Colonel Sale of the East India Company) was a British Army officer who commanded dthe garrison of Jalalabad during the First Afghan War and was killed in action during the First Anglo=Sikh War.

An original steel engraving published in London circa 1854 by the famous Tallis publishing house, at this time called the London Printing & Publishing Company. This is a finely embellished engraving for a series of scenes of great Naval and Military battles fought by the English.

The colour has been added at a later date but it certainly adds to the definition and the appreciation of this beautiful engraving.

The page size is approximately 27 x 18 cm (10.5 x 7 inches).
