Finely drawn and mezzotint-engraved on steel by D.J. Pound (Daniel John Pound (1820-1894), with embellishment that is complimentary to the subject of the portrait Field Marshal Fitzroy James Henry Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan, (1788-1855), British army officer and Commander-in-Chief during the Crimean War. This fine engraving was published by a later partnership formed by John Tallis, The London Printing and Publishing Company, c1860 (with later hand-colour).
