Wonderful antique woodblock engraving for 'The Illustrated London News' published in London on March 18, 1854 (later fine hand-colour). 

'The Illustrated London News' periodical was the world's first graphic newspaper. It was set up in 1842, but only became popular after the introduction of engraved illustrations of the events described.. particularly with news of wars around the world. The engraved illustrations have always been collected and enjoyed - particularly when they have been coloured.

There is slight foxing, and a printing press fold, but this is still a beautiful antique print.Page size is 275 x 400mm (10.75 x 15.75 inches)
