Original (hand-coloured) copperplate engraving by W.H. Lizars (1788-1859) after a drawing by Scottish naturalist Captain Thomas Brown (1785-1862), for Brown’s “Illustrations of the Conchology of Great Britain and Ireland, drawn and coloured from nature”, published in London and Edinburgh circa 1845.
There is slight soiling at the extremities of the page. Page size is 300 x 235mm (approximately 12 x 9.25 inches), with intaglio impression almost at the edge of the paper.
