Diptera Entomology Plate 3 from “The Cyclopaedia; or, Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature” by Abraham Rees published between 1812 and 1820.

An original copperplate engraving, with later hand colour, published as a series of portraits of famous and unusual Natural History subjects, by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown of Paternoster Row, London. This work was by far the greatest  ever, completed in the early 19th century. Consisting of seven volumes with over 240 copperplate engravings in each volume, illustrated with superb images, which show the different types, several to a page.
