Wonderful Tenebrio beetles engraving c1814, plate 36 from Entomology in "The Cyclopaedia; or, Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature” by Abraham Rees published between 1812 and 1820.
An original copperplate engraving, with later hand colour, published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown of Paternoster Row, London. This was the largest and most comprehensive work published in the early 19th century - consisting of seven volumes, each with over 240 copperplate engravings, illustrated with superb images, usually several to a page.
