Beautiful antique print of The Sands at Southport, Merseyside, Lancashire, with people wading, birds diving in the shallows of the water, beautiful buildings and walls along the seafront, sailing in the background, and a wonderful sky - with fine later hand-colour.

Lovely steel engraving by one of the finest English topographical artists and engravers, James Charles Armytage (1802-1897), after a sketch on the spot by by W. H. Bartlett. or "The Ports, Harbours, Watering-Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain", for William Finden (1787-1852), and Edward Finden (1791-1857). London: Published for the Proprietors by George Virtue circa 1841. William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854) was one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his time.

This engraving is clean - except for a large stain at top right corner. Price reduced appropriately. Image size is 126 x 180mm (4.7/8 x 6.7/8 inches). Page size is approximately 206 x 275mm (8.1/4 x 10.7/8 inches).
