Original steel engraving looking across the still water towards Southampton, for The Ports, Harbours, Watering-Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain by William Finden (1787-1852) and Edward Finden (1791-1857). Published by George Virtue in London circa 1840-1845 with illustrations of views, mostly by W.H. Bartlett (also from drawings by J.D. Harding, T. Creswick, and others), with fine engravings of scenes from the most famous coastal ports, inland river towns, and spa towns, with many important lighthouses and historic buildings and ruins.

This engraving has later fine hand-colour. Approximate measurements of image, 120 x 180mm (4.3/4 x 7.1/8 inches), and page, 207 x 275mm (8.3/8 x 10.7/8 inches).
