Gloucester, Bartlett view for Finden's Ports and Harbours c1841.
by Bartlett, William
Wonderful busy scene of the docks of Gloucester on the Severn Estuary. A busy scene with a huge anchor in the foreground, fishermen, barges, and many sailing ships.
Original steel engraving, from a sketch on the spot by W.H. Bartlett, engraved by W. Mossman, for "The Ports, Harbours, Watering-Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain", for William Finden (1787-1852), and Edward Finden (1791-1857). London: Published for the Proprietors by George Virtue circa 1841.
The page has general age-discolouration. With later fine hand-colour, the paper colour does not detract from this great scene. It would look good framed! Approximate measurement: image, 123 x 184mm (4.7/8 x 7.1/4 inches), and page, 208 x 275mm (8.1/8 x 10.7/8 inches).
