18th century engraving after Webber for  Cook's Voyages.

Wonderful original copperplate engraving by Heath after the drawing by John Webber (1751-1793), Admiralty-appointed official artist on the voyage of Captain Cook. This engraving was first published in London circa 1780 for John Hawkesworth’s British Admiralty-approved Complete History of Captain Cook's First, Second and Third Voyages, published in London circa 1784. This antique print was 'published as the Act directs, by Harrison & Co. for Gentleman's Magazine in London circa 1790 (later colour).

Page measures 210 x 260cm (8.25 x 10.25 inches). Plate mark, 145 x 285mm (5.75 x 11.75 inches). This wonderful engraving on hand-made paper is in good condition.
