Wonderful original copperplate engraving by Heath after the drawing by the Admiralty-appointed official artist on the voyage of Captain Cook, John Webber (1751-1793). This engraving was first published in London circa 1780 for Hawkesworth’s “Complete History of Captain Cook's First, Second and Third Voyages”. This engraving circa 1784 was 'published as the Act directs, by Harrison & Co. for "Gentleman's Magazine" in London circa 1790.

Page measures 210 x 260cm (8.25 x 10.25 inches). Plate mark, 145 x 285mm (5.75 x 11.75 inches). This wonderful engraving on hand-made paper is in good condition. It would have been published in black and white, so has had fine hand-colour from a later date.
