Small antique engraving on thick paper, published in London circa 1790. The fine later hand-colour adds to the appeal of this wonderful scene of Hawaiian natives in outrigger canoes, paddling out to Capatin Cook's ships, with foliage (the worldwide symbol of peace) hanging above the sail at the top of their vessel. This lovely engraving was first published in London c1773 for the account of Cook's voyages round the world.
